Hari Malas Sedunia

Hari ni adalah Hari Malas Sedunia. Well dalam seminggu, aku akan ada few days of Hari Malas Sedunia. Unfortunately, hari ni adalah antara hari-hari itu. Argh! so lazy to do anything, I just feel like sleeping the whole day. I dont wanna go to work, I already sent the kids to school, thank god for that. It's scorching hot out there, it's making me sleepy. I could barely open my eyes, rasa mcm nak letak batang mancis je kat kelopak mata aku.

Walaupun hari ni Hari Malas Sedunia, aku terpaksa jugak masak.. sob sob. Pesal la aku kena masak.. Pagi-pagi lagi dah kena bangun, siapkan anak2 gi KAFA. Pastu balik from KAFA, aku terpaksa adakan counselling session untuk kawan aku yg ada problem dgn her dear hubby. Went out for a drink with her kat kedai mamak, medan selera melawati.

I wanted to go for breakfast kat Dharbar, my favourite roti canai outlet. Tiba-tiba aku nampak notis besar tertampal kat shutter kedai tu, Notis Penutup Kedai atas alasan kebersihan.. *sigh*.. Maka terpaksa la pegi kat medan selera. Sungguh tidak menyelerakan. For the past few years, pagi petang siang malam, aku and Hubby will berkhemah kat Dharbar for their roti canai and teh tarik yg kawww.. Sekarang dah takleh la pulak, kedai kena tutup for 14 days. Aku tak tipu k, aku jumpa this article dalam utusan online :)

What's cooking today? Setelah letih memerah otak, maka aku cuma masak pegedil and ayam kicap. My pegedil and ayam kicap differ a bit dari the conventional pegedil and ayam kicap. Maybe ada orang yg masak cam aku, aku sorang je perasan that my recipe is unique. hehe.. I have to thank Ella for her pegedil recipe, sedap, lazat dan menjilat jari :)

Ketam Masam Manis Bertelur

Hehehe.. kelakar la pulak bila baca title post, as if ketam tu bertelur. Iffah loves ketam so much. But kat KL ni ketam tersgt la mahalnya. Kat Pasar Keramat, sekilo ketam dah RM24.00. Pastu kalau beli ketam, kena beli at least 2kg, baru la byk isi. Ye la, kulit ketam je pun more than 1/2 of weight ketam tu.

Kat Terengganu, kalau pegi Tok Bali or kat Kg. Lampu, Kuala Besut, boleh la dapat ketam for RM10-12.00 sekilo. Selalunya time mak aku datang sini from kampung, aku akan kirim about RM200.00 worth of ikan, udang, ketam and sotong. Ye la, kalau beli ikan kembung kat sini sekilo, dah about RM15.00. Kat kampung baru dalam RM8.00 time musim ikan mahal. Kalau musim ikan murah, about RM6.00 je. The cheapest place to buy ikan, sotong, udang, depending on musim, is kat Beting Lintang, Tembila. Ni somewhere kat Kuala Besut, Terengganu jugak.

Back to cerita ketam, hari ni aku beli ketam about 1kg kat Jusco AU2. Takpe la, nak gembirakan hati puteri aku sorang tu. Dah la semalam dia kena tinggal kat sekolah sampai pukul 7.15pm, but I will talk about that in another entry.

Ayam Bumbu

Yesterday, I was supposed to upload gambar Ayam Bumbu, tapi battery camera pulak habis. Since Hubby is still in Kuantan, I couldnt nag him to tolong carikan kat mana dia letak charger battery. Pastu tadi I decided to give him a call, suruh dia ingat, mana dia letak charger battery. Rupanya dia simpan dalam laci harta karun dia.. geram betul!

Below is gambar Ayam Bumbu tu. Sorry la gambar tah pah hapa, wanted to snap few more photos, tiba2 batter kiok. Today memang dah takleh sambung ambik gambar sebab ayam2 tu semua dah licin. I named this recipe Ayam Bumbu Ibu Emil sebab Emil has been so kind to share this recipe with me. Thank you Emil.


Ayam Bumbu Ibu Emil



Ingredients
Ayam 1 ekor - potong 16
20 ulas bwg merah
10 ulas bwg putih
5 biji buah keras
2 inci halia
5 inci lengkuas
1 btg serai - titik
3-4 helai daun salam

Directions
1. Blend bwg merah, bwg putih, buah keras, halia and lengkuas.
2. Masukkan bhn yg dah diblend dalam kuali, masukkan serai, daun salam & ayam. Tambah air sikit je.
3. Masak ayam sampai kering, tambah garam.
4. Panas kan kuali utk menggoreng
5. Keluarkan ayam dari bumbu tadi, goreng dalam kuali sampai garing. Make sure minyak jgn kuat sgt, nanti hangit.
6. Bila ayam dah garing, toskan, last sekali goreng bumbu tadi. Bila bumbu dah garing, gunakan penapis utk angkat bumbu.
7. Dah siap ayam bumbu. Kalau suka lebih bumbu, tambah lagi bwg dan lengkuas.

Blue

I'm feeling blue.. I'm missing my other half so much. No mood to blog, no mood to read emails, no mood to berfacebook.

Is it possible that when u love someone so much that u can experience a telepathic connection with that person? Have any of u experience that before? I read somewhere, u can only have that connection to people that u have very strong emotional and spiritual connection.

Tiba2 je teringat my x-bf. Dulu aku selalu terima call yang buatkan aku termenung. Why? Because, dia boleh relate kat aku apa yg aku buat the day before without actually asking me. I thought dia pasang spy or something. Then there was this one time, masa tu aku kat US, visiting a friend. He called, then cakap kat aku, that he had a dream, in his dream dia mimpi aku pegang crossbow warna hijau, ada celoreng mcm baju askar, siap describe lagi beli kat mana. Kebetulan masa tu, memang aku ada simpan crossbow mcm yg dia describe tu dalam bag aku. That crossbow was for my dad. Dia mcm boleh tau aku keluar dgn sapa, buat apa, or even pakai baju apa dan mcm2 lagi... Aku ingatkan dia gila...

Apparently not. Now I'm experiencing the same too, with my hubby. Am I crazy? It's like aku ada this strange connection with my hubby that aku takleh nak describe... I'm a crazy :)

Tetamu Allah

I was about to go out, nak hantar Iman, Iffah & Abbas (my nephew) to school. Tiba2 nampak dua orang makcik duduk bawah pokok nangka depan rumah aku. At first I thought mungkin makcik indon cleaners, sebab selalunya time tgh hari ni, mana ada makcik keluar rumah, unless cleaners. Tengok2 my neighbours. Mungkin tumpang berteduh bawah pokok nangka depan rumah aku sebab sejuk. Aku offer aunty2 tu utk duduk kat dalam rumah sementara dia orang berborak. They declined, kata sekejap je.

Pastu, lebih kurang 20 minit kemudian, balik dari sekolah budak2 ni, aku tengok ada lagi aunty2 berdua tu. Must be pretty serious conversation, tak balik rumah lagi. So aku ajak masuk dalam rumah, buatkan honey citrus tea for them and bagi air sejuk. Wanted to offer them the bread that I made, unfortunately, bread tak masak lagi, still dalam oven. Both aunty were so happy.

Sometimes kita tak tau, sapa yang Allah akan hantar as tetamu kita. Tak sangka jiran aku adalah tetamu yang Allah hantar untuk ke rumah aku today. Alhamdulillah...

For nisa, this is the recipe that u requested. I dah make some changes to the original recipe. Bawah tu roti yg baru je keluar dari oven.. hehe


Not So Sweet Bread



Ingredients
  • 3 cups warm water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 11gm of active dry yeast
  • 1/2cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 10 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top, and let it stand for about 10 minutes, until the yeast is foamy.
  2. Mix the milk, eggs and salt into the yeast. Measure the flour into a separate bowl and crumble the shortening into it using your fingers until it is barely noticeable. Gradually stir the flour into the wet ingredients. Mix using a wooden spoon until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and starts to form a ball around the spoon. Cover with a hot wet towel that has been wrung out, and set in a warm place to rise until double in bulk. This should take about 45 minutes or more.
  3. When the dough has risen, pour the melted butter over it, and knead for about 2 minutes. Roll squares into balls, and place into greased round pans, spacing about 1 inch apart. Let rise again until doubled in size. You could also refrigerate the dough, and let it rise overnight for baking the next day.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Bake the rolls for about 12 minutes, until golden brown.

A lonely nite

Too tired to pen, feeling so lonely coz hubby pegi Kuantan for 1 week. Selalunya malam2 mcm ni aku duduk dengan dia depan computer. Dia dok berchatting or berfacebook using his laptop and aku akan duduk depan pc ni, sambil sengih sorang2 baca egroup mails. Really miss him. Now sakit kepala some more. Maybe sebab I woke up too early.. hehe. Anyway, since malam ni hubby takde, so aku mcm malas nak makan. Balik dari kelas tadi, aku singgah kat Sae Mi Mart, beli pumpkin rice cake. Quite delicious.

Ayam Golek Risha - Recipe

Last nite I slept quite early, at 12 midnite. Well, dalam kamus aku, 12 mlm tu very early, normally I'll sleep around 2am-3am. I'm not a morning person,tersgt la jarang bangun pagi. Bila bangun lambat, of course tido pun lambat jugak kan. Today aku bangun awal though, pukul 6.30am dah siapkan breakfast untuk anak2 aku. Bila mama and abah are not morning people, maka anak2 pun sama. Selalunya bangun pagi, dia orang takan breakfast sebab tak biasa. Breakfast yang I prepare today, memang tak bersentuh. Cuma bawak as bekal ke sekolah KAFA.

As promised, recipe Ayam Golek Risha as below. I forgot to add turmeric leaves masa masak. Mintak maap ler ye cikgu Risha :)


Ayam Golek Risha
Ingredients (My version, differ a bit from the original recipe)

2 chickens (Wt. approx 1.2-1.4kg each)

For Dressing

15 shallots
10 garlic cloves
2 inches piece fresh root ginger
2 inches piece galangal
10 dried chillies, soaked in hot water to soften
2 lemongrass stalks, tough outer leaves removed
2 tbs tamarind juice
1 tbs belacan (shrimp paste)
2 tbs salt
8 tbs sugar
2 pcs turmeric leaves - finely chopped

Methods
1. Place the softened chillies, shallots, garlic, ginger, galangal, lemon grass, shrimp paste into a food processor and blend.
2. Preheat the oven to 200C
3. Heat the oil in a wok, add the blended paste, fry til fragrant.
4. Add salt, sugar, finely chopped turmeric leaves and tamarind juice.
5. Place 4tbs of the spice paste inside the body cavity of each chicken.
6. Rub half of the spice paste over both the insides and outsides of the chickens.
7. Transfer the chickens to a roasting tray and place into the oven to roast forabout an hour or until completely cooked through.
8. During cooking, baste the chickens with spice paste every 10 mins.

Today pun makan ayam golek juga.. argh! lama2 muka aku pun jadi mcm ayam. Dah la semalam hubby makan almost 2 ekor ayam golek yg aku buat tu. Today buat lagi 2 ekor. His friend, Eddie and wifey Liza came over for dinner. I'll upload the pic 1st. Will talk about the ayam tomorrow. Harapnya mlm ni aku tak mimpi pasal ayam. Rasanya nak posa dari makan ayam for few days..

Kang Yun Ji, Part II

Since everybody is still sleeping, I might as well continue blogging.

Where was I. Oh ya! the girls dalam lokap. Sebenarnya, kalau ikutkan their crime, tak payah ler duduk dalam lokap sampai 4 jam. The price of the item was RM35.00, boleh je bayar compensation to Guardian pastu balik la. But the officer in charge, refused to accept any compensation or post bail. So I had to masuk campur, kena la berdiscuss dgn officer in charge tu. Mula2 nak tunggu Officer J (I'll name him J sebab panjang lagi cerita pasal dia) takde kat balai. I waited for more than 1 hour. My hubby dah bising sebab dia kata lama sgt.

This Officer J duduk kat crime department. After waiting for more than 1 hour, finally Officer J decided to make an appearance. I duduk depan dia, and tanya la, apa masalah dengan budak2 ni, sampai takleh nak release dia org lagi, mcm mana nak settle, berapa kena bayar compensation kat Guardian. Barang tu harga RM35 je. Lepas dah discuss dgn Officer J tu, then dia kata, boleh drop case sebab under section berapa tah, dalam undang2 selangor, ada peruntukan utk tutup case for barang curi yang under RM100. I felt relief. Dia kata he will call me back utk confirm berapa kena bayar. For the first time, rasa bangga sebab polis kat Malaysia ni ada yang baik hati.

Then 2 hari lepas tu, Officer J called me. He said I have to pay more than RM35 sebab kena settle dgn polis peronda, nak erase nama budak2 tu dalam log book dia org. I was baffled, I asked him, why do I need to do that? Dia explained la, kalau aku tak bayar polis peronda tu, nanti budak2 tu kena tangkap balik.. bla bla bla. Pastu aku cakap yg aku tak takut kena tangkap polis, aku takut kat akhirat nanti tak lepas. Then dia diam, pastu dia kata nanti dia discuss dgn boss dia.

Then few days lepas tu, dia call lagi. Dia cakap polis bukit aman pulak nak report card budak2 tu, nak tengok perangai dia org kat sekolah. Aku dah cam pelik, pehal lak polis bukit aman nak masuk campur. Bukannya rasuah RM10 juta, cuma brg curi RM35 je. Lagi la aku pelik. Then aku bagitau kat Officer J, I will try to get the report card for him a.s.a.p (In my case, it was asap ie smoke, coz it was never in my intention to return call to that Officer pun.. hehe)

Then Officer J tu call lagi few days lepas tu, dia tanya kenapa aku tak call balik pasal duit compensation tu. Aku cakap la aku tak tau berapa kena bayar compensation, pastu aku busy. Then dia kata, dia ada tengok paper, nokia N82 lawa, since dia takde hp sendiri, dia nak aku mintak dgn mak2 korean girls tu belikan utk dia. Aku terkejut badak, terdiam kejap aku. Now aku tau kenapa dia reka cerita mcm2, rupanya dia nak mintak rasuah. Aku cakap kat dia, aku taknak buat benda mcm ni. Aku diam je la. Then lepas dah hang up telepon, Sarjan tu sms aku "Kalau nak belikan hp tu, saya terima, saya tak paksa, biar la bagi dgn hati yg ikhlas" or something like that.Did I give him rasuah? Definitely NOT :)

Begitu la kisah Jenny kena tangkap polis. Lepas that episode kena tangkap polis tu, ada lagi beberapa eposide lain. Kalau nak tulis semua, mau panjang lebar blog ni. To cut it short, Jenny ni tersgt la problematic nya. Pernah sekali, dia kena pukul dgn kayu golf more than 100 kali dgn mak dia. Kalau tengok peha dia masa tu, bukan biru lagi dah, dah jadi hitam. Upon looking at the bruises, I wanted to cry. Mak apa la sanggup buat anak mcm ni. Lari dari rumah tu tak tau dah berapa puluh kali. Tu la antara kesah Jenny ni.

Now she's back in Korea. Sedih... sob sob. I do hope that we will still keep in touch. Oh ya, on friday, masa dia datang my house, dia bawakkan rice cake. I love rice cake, I love rice cake, I love it!! hehe

Farewell to Kang Yun Ji. Part 1

This entry khas untuk my student, Yun Ji a.ka. Jenny

Yesterday she came over to my house with her mum and little brother. The purpose of the visit was to say goodbye to me. Huwaaa.. sedih la pulak. I've been teaching her for almost 2 years now. So bila dia balik Korea for good, rasa sedih yang teramat sangat. Dia ni tersangat la problematicnya, but dalam kelas, dia la yang buatkan kelas lively.

About few months ago, she was caught stealing kat Guardian, Ampang Point. Yun Ji betul bendul orangnya. Dia ikut kawan2 dia pegi Ampang Point. Pastu sementara tunggu kawan2 dia yang lain beli barang kat Guardian, dia lepak kat Mc Donald kat situ, talking with another friend. Tiba2, kawan yang masuk Guardian tu, Hye Lin, bagi dia compact powder Silky Girl, suruh simpan dalam baju. Yunji pun simpan la.

Few minutes later, supervisor Guardian datang kata nak buat body search. Jumpa la compact powder tu. Rupanya Hye Lin curi compact powder tu from Guardian. Apa lagi, kebalai la jawabnya. Dia orang kena tangkap pukul 6pm, aku sampai kat balai almost 10pm. So dia orang dah duduk kat dalam lokap almost 4 hours.

nanti aku sambung cerita ni esok.. too sleepy. Sementara tu, boleh la berkenalan dgn Yunji kat bawah ni :)

Ayam Golek

Today sebenarnya nak beli buku sekolah KAFA for iman and iffah. Tapi tak jadi sebab sekolah agama tu tutup. Pelik betul, of all the day dia nak tutup, tutup on saturday just 2 days before bukak sekolah. Memang menyusahkan for mak yang always do things last minute macam aku.

Pagi2 lagi my brother, Harun, dah called. Dia nak arrange utk jadikan my house transit for anak dia, Abbas. I dont really mind coz iman & iffah pun memang pegi sekolah yang sama dgn Abbas. Starting from monday, pukul 7.45am, I'll need to send the 3 of them pegi KAFA, then petang, they will be going to Sek. Ren. Tmn Melawati 2. Since I'm working in the afternoon, most probably I'll have to drop Makcik Ton kat rumah my mum so that she can walk to school to pick up the kids. I doubt that abah akan larat ambik cucu2 dia kat sekolah.

Sekolah tu takde la jauh pun from my parent's house, ada la dalam 5 minit jalan kaki. Kalau naik kete, least than 2 minit dah sampai. But knowing my dad, kim salam la.. Dia akan suruh la sesapa yg available ie my other siblings, pegi ambik cucu2 dia.. hehe..

Now, why is it that aku type "Ayam Golek" as the title today? I cooked ayam golek hari ni. First time buat ayam golek. Selalunya menu rumah ni ayam percik je. Entah apa mimpi aku, tiba2 rajin pulak nak masak ayam golek. I went to Jusco to buy small size chicken dgn bertemankan my reluctant hubby. Sakit hati betul, punya la susah nak suruh dia jadi driver. *Grrrrr..*

Ayam Golek Express

Ingredients
2 ekor ayam kecik (approx. 1kg each, kalau nak guna ayam besar pun takpe)
15 ulas bwg merah
5 ulas bwg putih
2 inci halia
2 inci lengkuas
5 biji buah keras
4 tbs cili boh
1 tbs asam jawa (ambik air shj)
3 tbs rempah kurma
4 btg serai - ketuk
1kg santan
2tb kerisik (optional)
garam, gula, manisan

Directions
1. Bwg merah, bwg putih, halia, lengkuas, buah keras - blend
2. Masukkan minyak dalam periuk, tumis bahan yg dah diblend
3. Bila garing, masukkan cili boh, rempah kurma, tumis sampai naik bau.
4. Then masukkan kerisik, santan, serai. Bila dah mendidik, masukkan gula, garam and manisan.
5. Kecikkan api, biarkan mendidih abt 10 mins.
6. Lumurkan ayam dgn kuah golek, bakar approx 1 jam. Once in while kena siram ayam dgn kuah golek. :)

Roti oh Roti

Entah apa mimpi today, tiba2 je rasa mcm nak buat roti. Tak pernah seumur hidup aku buat roti. I'm quite good at cooking, boleh la masak macam2 dan menggemukkan hubby ku, but never tried baking bread before. Kalau takat buat kek or biscuits tu selalu la. So today, dgn semangat yg berkobar2, aku pun memulakan activity membakar roti. I was kindda sceptical that I'd be able to bake a good edible bread. So far so good, texture dough menepati piawai.. hehe. Will upload gambar roti yg dah dibakar kejap lagi.

Roti ni instead of kneading guna tangan, i used mixer. One of the tips given by the member was that to use mixer on low speed, use a dough hook. Alhamdulillah, it turned out well. I've also made adjustment on the sugar used, instead of 2/3 cup as per original recipe, I used 1/3 cup only. Credit to Allrecipes.com

Roti yang baru keluar dari oven

Recipe seperti dibawah

Ingredients
  • 2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 cups bread flour
Directions
  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
  2. Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
  3. Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.
    Save as Draft
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes

Letih maksimum

Today dah ler bangun lambat, semangat utk exercise dah hilang ke mana. I wanted to continue with my bodyforlife program. For those yg nak tau apa program ni is all about, boleh tgk kat www.bodyforlife.com. Dah la semlm aku missed upperbody nye exercise, hari ni terkial2 nak continue.. fast forward, lepas bertungkus lumus exercise, rasa penat yg amat dan malas teramat sgt nak masak. So lunch kat kedai mamak.. *sigh*.. mcm mana la nak kurus.

Lepas lunch, picked up my kids kat rumah my mum, pastu pegi ke carrefour wangsa maju. Hubby wanted to buy harddisk for one of the pc at home, tapi teramat mahal la pulak. Ended up buying veges je. Dah ler orang ramai yg amat kat carrefour. Balik carrefour, I fell asleep. Bangun2 je dah pukul 6pm. Hubby dah complaint kata lapar. Masak burger, pastu I started dinner preparation. Dok pikir apa la aku nak masak today, last sekali, masak Butter Rice, Ayam Stick and acar mentah. Akan ku upload gambar esok.. now too sleepy

Nasi Butter

Ingredients
4 cups of basmathi rice - wash and drain
5 ulas garlic - ketuk
1/2 cup of butter
1 cup of chicken stock
3 1/2 cups of water
1/2 cup of fresh milk
1 inci kayu manis, 5 clove, 4 cardamon, 2 star anise

Directions
1. mula2 tumis bawang putih dgn butter, and rempah kasar kat atas tu
2. then masukkan chicken stock, water
3. bila dah boil, masukkan susu, 3 tsp garam
4. then tuang semua dalam rice cooker, masukkan beras yg ditoskan.
5. masak. voila!! siap butter rice :)
