Budak Hingusan Still..

Yes, it's my selsema, which refused to go away. Tak kuasa dah nak beli tissue, dah berkotak2 habis. Malam2 punya la susah nak tido. Last nite I slept at 5am. Err..bukan sebab selsema tau, but sebab aku melayan tengok cerita drama korea "King of Baking". Hari ni tobat dah takmau layan cite korea. Kang melekat depan pc ni lama macam semalam.

Tu pun nasib baik petang, Wan (cousin aku), telepon ajak keluar minum kopi kat Jusco AU2. Kalau tak, memang aku akan duduk mengembangkan bontot kat depan pc lagi layan drama tu. Dah la drama tu 30 episodes!! Elin came over lepas lunch semalam sebab nak copy drama2 korea yang aku dah download. Rumah aku dah jadi mcm tempat menyedut movies pulak. Memang berbaloi aku ambik UNIFI. To those yang plan nak ambik UNIFI, now dia org dah kenakan installation charges RM200. Alhamdulillah masa aku install dulu, it was still free.

I'm actually lalok now.. Rasanya effect makan ubat selsema kot. Erm.. so patut ke aku buat cake? Macam malas je.. Semalam, Mate aka Dila, mengingatkan aku, betapa berantunya cucur kentang aku masa kita org duduk serumah kat Tassie dulu. Aku ada buat cucur kentang ke? Wah! tak sangka aku begitu creative masa tu.. hehehe.. Mate cakap, Eli, another housemate of ours loves the cucur kentang. Sanggup bangun sahur just to makan the cucur kentang. Err.. Mate, pesal engkau ingat so many things? Aku tak ingat pun bab pose kat sana. Yang aku ingat, ada one time, the four of us, tak boleh puasa, so kita jalan2 kat beach sambil makan ice cream siang2 hari buta.. hahahhaha.. best wor! kat Msia mana boleh buat mcm tu :D

Selsema & Hot weather

Bila panas macam ni, with hidung yg decided to go on 40km marathon, I dont have much choice but to cook something light. Kebetulan masa blog hopping tadi, singgah kat rumah K.Min and I saw her beautiful Thai Roast Chicken Salad, terus teringin nak buat salad yang sama. Actually hubby requested for Sambal Tumis Daging and Masak Lemak Kobis. In this weather, I really wanna minimised my time in the kitchen. So hari ni, terpaksa la I jadi isteri "kurang mithali".. hehehe.. sorry ye dear hubby, next time. Tunggu you balik from Johor on Tuesday je la ye.

Oh ya, I did some modification to my Honey Semifreddo. I added pistachios to it, whisk it again and freeze it again. And I think it tasted better, well ikut my taste bud la.


Thai Salad with Thai Beef Chili

Semifreddo with load of pistachios and honey! 

Thank you K.Min for sharing the wonderful salad recipe. Recipe for the salad can be found here. But as you can see, my salad memang langsung tak sama dengan yang K.Min buat or the one featured kat website tu. Aku guna whatever available in the kitchen. The sauce saje yang sama.

Pastu for the Thai Chili Beef, it was an adaptation from my Vietnamese Ricepaper Rolls dipping sauce. The recipe can be found here
Thai Chili Beef
Ingredients
1/2kg beef - thinly sliced ( I bought thinly sliced meat kat butcher. save the trouble slicing it)
2 biji cili hijau - minced
2 biji cili merah - minced
4-5 cili padi - minced
7-8 ulas garlic - crushed
4 tbs lemon juice
1 tbs fish sauce
salt, sugar
coriander leaves
1/4 cup water

1. goreng beef dgn minyak byk sampai garing but jgn hangit, toskan
2. panaskan kuali with canola oil about 1 tbs, tumis bwg putih dgn cili hijau, merah n cili padi. add water
3. bila air dah mendidih, masukkan lemon juice, fish sauce, garam and gula.
4. biarkan til sauce jadi pekat, then add daging, kacau. pastu campur coriander leaves, then hidangkan.


Actually, boleh je kalau takmau tumis, just mix everything to the cooked meat. So jadi another salad :)

Honey Semifreddo

When I saw Mate's (Dila) semifreddo, I fell in love with it. It looks so delicious, rasa mcm nak je korek facebook photo dia, makan.. hahahha.. if only that is possible.

Maka hari ni, dengan hidung yang still on acara marathon, tekak yg sakit and lips yang still pouting mcm Angelina Jolie ( CS & K.Lili, nothing happened last nite that contributed to the pouting lips! :P ), aku bertungkus lumus membuat the semifreddo. My mistake was that, I only googled for Nigella's recipe. Normally, I'd go through few recipes and mix and match the recipe to create my own. To me, the semifreddo is a bit too rich for my taste. Rasanya macam rich creamy ice cream. Kalau makan sikit ok la, but makan banyak, mau pengsan tergolek tengok calorie yang masuk.

My semifreddo tu, bila keluarkan dari freezer and masuk dalam bekas, cepat cair. Maybe because my kitchen is a bit warm tonite. Tak hujan, so the whole house rasa mcm oven. Kalau buat roti ni, kejap je dah naik roti tu. I substituted the pine nuts with pistachios sebab I couldnt find pine nuts kat Bagus.

Ingredients

  • Nigella Recipe
  • 1 egg
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 100g best-quality honey, plus 3 tablespoons or so for serving
  • 300ml double cream
  • 25g pine nuts, toasted

Method

  1. Line a 900g/1 litre loaf tin with clingfilm.
  2. Beat the egg and egg yolks with the honey in a bowl, over a saucepan of gently simmering water, until the mixture is pale and thick. I use a wire balloon whisk for this, but if you feel like a bit of culinarily aided whirring, it will certainly be quicker with a hand-held electric whisk.
  3. Whip the double cream until thick, and then gently fold in the egg and honey mixture. Pour into the prepared loaf tin, and cover carefully with clingfilm before putting it in the freezer for about 2-3 hours.
  4. When it is ready to serve, turn out the semifreddo on to a suitably sized plate and drizzle this manilla-coloured log with honey, and sprinkle with the toasted pine nuts, before slicing. It thaws quickly as it stands, but that is part of its heavenly-textured charm. If you've got some dark, syrupy - indeed, honey-coloured - pudding wine to drink while you eat this, so much the better.
Serves: 6-8.

DSST & Kuey Teow Goreng

This time aku nak tiru CS, tulis dalam shortform.. hehehe.. CS, jangan marah ye, saya peniru tulen. :D

What does DSST stands for? Mula2 nak tulis title penuh, pastu panjang sangat, maka jadi la DSST = demam, selsema & sore throat. *sigh*.. These past few days, my health is just not as bubbly and lively as I am. It started with demam last week kan, pastu stomach cramp. Pastu pagi semalam bangun with a bad sore throat and lips pouting like Angelina Jolie sebab ada ulcer besar kat lips. It's sooooooooo painful to pout like that the whole day. Tak letih ke Angelina pout her lips camtu? Aku yg dah 2 hari kena pout ala2 dia pun rasa lenguh mulut. Anyway, pagi tadi bangun dengan cough, sore throat decided to stay for a while and tengahari tadi demam..

Sedih nya... Tak tau la pesal asyik tak sihat je. Yes yes, I know, I should banyak beristighfar dan muhasabah diri. Sakit is part of penghapus dosa. Aku redha, thus I will not complain anymore. The good thing about being sakit is, I can mengada2 with hubby. hahahahha.. seronok ape mengada2 ni. Tapi kan, bila sakit mcm ni, still kena masak, memang la rasa a bit sedih. But kesian jugak kat hubby kalau aku tak masak. Dia dah rindu sangat dengan masakan aku. Chewah! macam real je..

So, what did I cook today? Suprisingly, aku ada stamina untuk buat kueyteow goreng for lunch. Then masak kacang buncing goreng with ikan bilis, telur dadar and ayam goreng cili hijau. But sadly, aku terlupa nak masak nasik. Boleh? ishk ishk! macam mana aku lupa nak masak nasik? Beria2 aku hidang lauk atas meja for hubby tadi, pastu bila bukak periuk nasik, nasik mentah. Aku dah masukkan beras dalam rice cooker, but lupa nak tekan cook. So nasi tak masak. Instead, jadi jelatah (betul ke?) coz the rice cooker was on warm. Terpaksa la aku buang nasi yang worth about 2 days tu dalam tong sampah. Aku selalu masak nasik every 2 days sebab rice cooker aku jenis yg sentiasa warm, so nasik sentiasa panas and tak basi. Pemalas kan? hahahhaa.. Takpe, nanti makcik ton balik, aku akan jadi lebih rajin.

Haa.. jangan tak tau, today, bila hari mendung bagai nak hujan tapi tak hujan, matahari tersipu2 malu, aku basuh 5 loads of laundry termasuk la selimut tebal. Masa angkat tadi, still ada baju yang lembab. Pesal la aku tak basuh baju semalam, masa matahari tak malu, memancar dengan gamaknya from pagi sampai ke maghrib?? Argh!! Something is wrong with me..

Kueyteow Goreng Ayam

ingredients
1 bungkus kueyteow
ayam/daging/seafood (as much as u want)
5-7 ulas bwg putih - crushed
2 tbs cili giling (boleh kurangkan kalau kids tak makan pedas)
2 tbs kicap manis
2 tbs sos tiram
3 tbs tomato sauce
1 tbs cili sauce (boleh omit kalau taknak)
1 1/2 tsp salt
2-3 tbs sugar ( i like mine to have a hint of sweetness)
taugeh, kucai
1/4 cup air

cara2
1. tumis bwg putih and cili giling sampai garing, masukkan ayam yang dihiris nipis.
2. pastu masukkan air, sos tiram, sos tomato, sos cili, garam, gula dan kicap. bila air mendidih, masukkan kueyteow.
3. bila kueyteow dah a bit kering, masukkan sayur. goreng for 2 minutes, hidangkan. :)

note : i tak masukkan any perasa/msg in my cooking unless sgt2 diperlukan.

An Old Maid, A Donkey and A Happy Family.

We went to Syed, Taman Permata for dinner. I dont really wanna eat mamak coz it's just not my type of food. Tapi sebab hubby dah kemaruk sgt, seminggu makan clean food, he need to have something spicy. So we went to eat nasi bukhara. Hubby makan 2 pinggan!! I know, I know.. dia memang byk makan. Takpe la, kasi can before kita org go full blown on bodyforlife punya program.

After dinner, we started to look for card game. Of course yang famous nya will be Old Maid, Donkey and Happy Family. Rasanya kita orang pusing every kedai yang ada kat Melawati tu before finally jumpa kat kedai runcit tepi rumah mak aku. Yang kelakarnya, masa mula2 berenti kat 1st kedai runcit mamak, Iffah tanya mamak tu, "Mamak, ada jual kad main tak?". Mamak tu blur.. agaknya dalam hati dia, biar betul budak ni. Kad main?? Aku dengar nak tergelak pun ada, because the question was asked so innocently, but to those yg always see things as double meaning mcm aku, of course la shocking! hahahha... aku cerita kat hubby dalam kereta, dia gelak giler. Nasib baik mamak tu tak meroyan je :D

Pisang Lemak Manis. Baka was given by my sister kat Johor. Gebu kan? Shariff habiskan 1/2 tandan. Actually pisang ni kecik2 je, about size jari manis, but gemuk2. :)

Stomach Flu and Eating Expedition..

On Friday, the whole day aku melepek kat atas katil. I was so sick that I could barely get out of bed. My fever was running as high as 39 degree C. Luckily Iman and Iffah tak pegi sekolah (Mama was too sick to get up and send them to school that morning). So I have two angels babysitting me at home. Alhamdulillah. Thank you Allah for the beautiful gift.

The saddest part about not having hubby around was that, there was no one around to bring me to the clinic. My sister, Mas, was at work. Nazri, my brother, was also at work. Aku terpaksa la merengkuk dalam selimut, sponged by my two girls, and wait til Mas came back home. By the time Mas balik, I was feeling better. Tak jadila aku pegi clinic. I think masa duduk hospital dengan Iffah, somehow, aku dapat the virus that causes the stomach flu. Fever is well gone, but the stomach cramp is still there.

Dah la 2 hari ni, asyik ikut orang makan je. Semalam aku keluar dengan my siblings, pegi Al-Rawshar kat bulatan Kg Pandan. The food sucks. Same goes with the service. Will blog about it tomorrow, once I get my hand on the photos that I took of that place. Today pulak, I went out with Azli and Sally to One Utama, pegi makan Chili's and ice cream. Iman and Iffah slept at their Aunt's place (hubby eldest sister) sebab nak celebrate Halloween kat sekolah Zuleika, their cousin. Can believe it, ada one of the parents kat kelas Zuleika sponsored FREE Starbuck Coffee for visitors yang membeli kat their booth? I was like... waaaaaaaaaa... kayanya!!

Penne with Spicy Tuna

This week memang takde mood langsung nak masak. Bila angin malas melanda, pasta will be in the menu sebab boleh makan from morning til mlm. Melampau kan? hahahhaha.. takpe.. the kids dah biasa.

Penne with Spicy Tuna

Gambar sangat buruk sebab I took using my hp. Hubby ambik my camera.. huhuhu.. In this particular dish, instead of using canned tuna in water, aku guna ikan kukus. Patutnya ikan kukus tu aku guna untuk buat sambal nasik lemak. But, I'm not in the mood to cook something heavy, maka aku guna untuk masak pasta. I used green olives instead of black coz nak menghabiskan olive yg Za bagi. It's very simple and tak rasa pedas pun. Cili kering tu saje je buat gempak.

Recipe for ikan kukus boleh ambik from here.

Ingredients
500gm Penne - rebus til al-dante.
6-7 ulas bwg putih - crushed
1 canned of olive
8-10 tangkai cili kering - potong
olive oil
salt

cara2
1. tumis bwg putih dgn a good amount of olive oil sampai golden, then masukkan shredded tuna. 
2. goreng tuna sampai a bit garing, masukkan cili kering dan pasta.
3. add olive and salt.
4. voila! boleh dihidangkan :D

Iffah getting better a bit.

Alhamdulillah her vomitting dah stop. Hopefully her diarrhea too. Pagi tadi buat MRI because of the severe headache that she has been complaining for the past 1 week plus.

Mama dah tak tahan nak duduk hospital. Please get well soon sayang..

It's not fun when you have to drive all the way to Melawati to drop kakak at school and brave thru the heavy traffic on MRR2 to go back to the hospital again. Argh! I was stuck on the highway for more than 1/2 hour after sending Iman to school. Tension!!

Off to Norway..

Hubby will be gone for a week. I'm so sad.. huwaaa... Selalunya kalau dia outstation, cuma 3-4 days je. Actually aku bukan sedih sebab dia pegi lama, but aku sedih sebab kena tido rumah mok lagi. Argh! time macam ni la aku rindu giler kat Makcik Ton. Hubby tak bagi kita org tido just the 3 of us kat rumah. Since rumah mok ada adik2 aku yg lain, so at least ramai sikit. Takla dia risau sangat.

Tadi kita orang dinner kat TGIF, Wangsa Walk. Sebenarnya aku lagi prefer Chilis than TGIF. Pulak tu, aku tak suka the fact that TGIF ada few menus yg ada Jack Danial. But since Iffah tak sihat, with vomitting and diarrhea, maka terpaksa la kita org pegi somewhere closer to home. The food was ok, but aku still prefer Chili's. The ice lemon tea, rasa mcm minum air gula. It was too sweet! Nasib baik ler aku order for Iman and Iffah je. Kalau tak, sure balik dari TGIF, aku kena kencing manis. Aku rasa the best part of our meal was the dessert. The mocha parfait was parfait! ie. perfect! :D

Mee Goreng Sempoi..

I wanted to update on our trip back to Terengganu, but I'm so lazy (as usual) to take out the camera and upload photos. And seperti biasa, I'll just upload gambar mee goreng yg sangat2 la diminati oleh adik ipar aku, Suhaila. Few times she called asking for recipe. But Suhaila cakap, rasa mee dia masak tak sama dgn yang aku masak. Sian Suhaila.. Masa balik baru ni, dia cakap, kalau dia bukan on diet, she will definitely ask me to cook mee goreng at 1am.. hahaha.. kalau dia tak diet pun, aku taknak masak. Giler ke apa, pukul 1am nak masak mee goreng. Mau tambah 5kg the next morning.. hahahha..

Tadi aku pegi Pasar Payang for breakfast. I ended up with 10 ekor ikan tongkol/aya/tuna berat more than 20kg. I'm on body for life program (again.. *sigh*), so ikan will be our main protein source for the next month or so. Aku hope this time I'll be able to stick with the program. Last week aku dah start warm up, doing some weight lifting exercise and gosh it hurts! Especially my lower body, rasa mcm orang tua 80 tahun. Hope this week it wont be that painful, but I doubt that...

Terengganu & Singgang Daging

We're going back to Terengganu for the weekend. Actually malas sgt nak balik kampung. But hubby is going away next week for the whole week, maka terpaksa la jugak ikut dia balik. We can spend more time with him before he go off next week.

The day before, we went to rumah K.Mei (hubby's eldest sister). She just got back from US. She was there for 1 month, jet setting between London & Washington. Actually, dia raya kat sana with Abg Zainol  & Zuleikha. K.Mei bought shoes for the girls. They were very excited. Tapi kan, bila try it on, kasut tu muat2 je dengan Iffah. Punya la besar kaki budak2 ni. Hopefully they will be able to wear it for the next few months.

 Cantik kan kasut ni? I love the colour! :D

Petang semalam, Mas (adik aku) called, tanya what's for dinner. Adoi! malasnya nak masak. Pikir punya pikir, last2 teringat that aku dah lama tak buat singgang daging. Dulu masa buat body for life, manjang makan singgang daging. Iman loves it! Singgang daging simpoi je, main campak2. But the main ingredients yg kena ada, lengkuas and ketumbar biji.

 Singgang Daging

Singgang Daging
Ingredients
1/2 kg daging - potong nipis
3 tbs biji ketumbar
3 asam keping
2 inci lengkuas, potong nipis
2 biji tomato - potong 4
bendi, cili padi - optional
garam, gula

cara2
1. rebus daging dengan air yang secukupnya sampai 3/4 empuk, masukkan lengkuas, asam keping dan ketumbar. Rebus lagi sampai daging empuk
2. Bila daging dah empuk, masukkan tomato, cili padi, bendi, garam dan gula.

Ni project aku last nite. I slept at 2am, sebab dok nak siapkan June's order. She wanted the tart utk charity sale kat Maybank esok. Since it's charity sale, aku suruh June bayar cost price je. Proceed from the sale will be channeled to rumah2 anak yatim.

Fresh Fruits Pizza

I wanted to sleep tapi Shariff is here. Today aku kena babysit dia. Actually dia duduk since semlm. So last nite, aku tido tak nyenyak. Macam mana nak nyenyak, keje dia nak berkepit je dgn aku. Asal aku pusing facing hubby je, dia akan tarik tangan. Grrr...

I'll just upload gambar fruit pizza that I made last nite coz I'm too sleepy to write.

The pizza, but tartlet version coz nak masukkan dalam lunch boxes the kids.

This recipe was given by Datin Kay, wife to the chairman of the company that hubby is working with now. We went to his house on the day that I made the Sicilian Orange Cake. We fell in love with the pizza the moment we took the 1st bite. So it's love at the first sight for us. Alhamdulillah, Datin Kay was kind enough to share the recipe. Datin Kay is the mother to Que Haidar's wife, Linda Jasmine.

If I'm not mistaken, the recipe was taken from Betty Crocker book, printed in 1957. The book was given to Datin as her wedding present. 

Fresh Fruits Pizza
Ingredients
A
1/2 cup icing sugar
3/4 cup butter
11/2 cups plain flour (initially I typed 1/2 cup of flour, but the correct measurement called for 1 1/2 cup of flour. I'm sorry for the error)

1. mix together with hand, make it flat on a pizza pan, bake at 200 degree until lightly brown

8 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbs freshly squeezed lemon juice

1. mix together using a mixer, spread on baked crust. arrange fruits on top of the cream cheese spread. It can be any fruits such as canned peach, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, kiwi, grapes etc

C
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup sugar (you can reduce if u want to)
1 tbs corn starch (mix with a bit of water)

1. mix together and cook until thick. let it cool and drizzle over the fruit pizza. keep in refrigerator for at least 6 hours.

Chilling with the girls @ Chilli's OU

As usual, kalau nak lepak, kita orang mesti pegi Chili's. Mula2 nya, plan nak makan kat Jusco AU2 je. Pastu Nora suggested pegi Chili's. Dia pun dah nak berangkat ke Mekah soon. Jadi aku pun ajak the girls to makan kat Chili's KLCC. But Ina pulak memang ada date dengan her kids kat One Utama (Ina's 2nd home). Since from my place to One Utama tak jauh sangat, maka kita orang decided to meet kat Chili's OU.

Aku memang tobat dah takmau pegi OU during weekend. Susah giler nak cari parking. Nasib baik tak meroyan je aku drive more than 1/2 jam pusing kat basement parking new wing tu. Last-last aku cakap kat the girls to naik jumpa Ina kat Chili's dulu, then bila aku jumpa parking, aku akan join dia org. Even Midvalley pun tak susah mcm tu nak cari parking. Kat OU, you can see drivers tailing other shoppers. Aku ni jenis malas nak tail orang. I hate the guessing game. Satu hal pulak nak kena pikir kat mana orang tu park. Sebab tu la aku malas giler nak pegi berjalan2 to shopping malls during weekend.

Lepas dah makan kat Chili's, we went home. Aku sampai rumah dah almost 12.30mlm. Iman tak ikut aku to Chili's coz she was having a fever last nite. Hubby stayed home taking care of Iman. Actually he stayed home all day yesterday looking after Iman while wifey aka ME, pegi menjoyah.. hahahhaha... sorry ye hubby. I really miss my time out with the girls.
