Kota Kinabalu - 2nd day (Part 2)

We arrived at Kinabalu Park at about 12noon. Initially we wanted to check in straight away at Pine Resort in Kundasang, but check in time is at 2pm. Huwaaa.. kena tunggu la pulak. So we spent our time kat Kinabalu Park. Entrance fee for the park cost us RM3 for adult, RM1 for children. Somehow Mount Kinabalu eluded us during our stay at the mountain base. Sedih giler.. Everytime tengok the mountain, aku cuma nampak clouds, clouds and more clouds. Lin showed us where she stayed during her honeymoon week. The cottage is breathtakingly beautiful. According to Lin, before the place is being managed by Sutera, the rental was dirt cheap. Now, it's too expensive to stay there. So tengok2 je la. Takyah nak berangan nak tido kat chalet kat situ.

Kita orang make a stop over kat Timpohon, eh! ke Tinpohon? Thank you pakcik Google! It's Timpohon. Sorry ye, makcik sangat2 la pelupanya. Bila aku baca signage kat Sabah, aku cam blur blur gitu. Cant remember a thing! Kat Timpohon tu, kita orang kena bayar lagi sekali entrance fee. That entrance is untuk orang yang nak panjat gunung kinabalu (starting point for aku and Sally in october).

Look! a squirrel decided to greet us upon our arrival at Timpohon entrance.

On less cloudy days, belakang tu dah boleh nampak the majestic mount kinabalu

We went down the stairs sampai Carson Waterfall (I think it's called Carson). Pastu Lin ajak panjat sikit lagi, kononnya nak experience la panjat kinabalu, walaupun just few metres. Kebetulan, masa nak naik tangga batu tu, ada climbers yang baru turun. Nampak muka dia orang, mcm nak pengsan tergolek2 je expression sorang2. I was mesra alam enuff (hahaha.. so unlike me) to tegur dia orang. Rupanya dia orang from Singapore. I though orang Malaysia. Dia orang cite la, they trained for 3 months, panjat tangga flats, panjat bukit, still not enuff untuk panjat gunung kinabalu. They managed to reached the peak, but they were dead tired and exhausted. Tu pun nyaris nak give up. Aku tanya dia orang, dia orang panjat bukit timah ke kat singapore. They were suprised that aku tau bukit timah. hahahha.. tak sangka geography aku still ok. Ye la, Singapore mana ada gunung, paling tinggi pun, peak bukit timah tu.

Haaa.. nama dia Carson Waterfall.

The Singaporeans - wa caya sama lu.

Tengok la abang ni, on that day alone, dia dah turun naik from Laban Rata - Timpohon more than 3 kali dah. Aku dengar nak terbeliak bijik mata. He said, earlier pun dia buang sampah jugak. Caya la!!

Turun from Kinabalu Park, we went to Kundasang to check in. The kids were hungry. Nasib baik bawak bekal. Aku memang takmau dah eat out, food tak sedap, and iman iffah pulak dah start sakit perut sebab tak biasa makan makanan kat sabah yg banyak msg and oily tu. Then Puan Maryam and her daughter visited us. Pastu we went to Kundasang War Memorial sama2. Bila baca kesah Australian soldiers and British soldiers yang mati, went missing during Japanese occupation, rasa kesian sangat2. The War Memorial is to commemorate the brave soldiers yang survive the death marches.

Kundasang War Memorial - punya la susah aku nak suruh iffah posing

Cant see the mountain, just a sneak peek of the peak.. sob sob..
