Jaffa Drizzle Loaf

Tak sabar2 nak tunggu 12.01am so that I can write. Ye la, dah habis time untuk wordless Wednesday. Dah lama tak buat wordless Wednesday, kadang2 perlu jugak kan? hehe.. but for a chatterbox like me, that was a hard one!

As I mentioned earlier, this cake was introduced by Leene who is currently residing kat Cairo. Err.. introduced dalam facebook je. She baked this cake few days ago and dia cakap sedap! Tu yang tangan aku itchy giler nak bake this cake. I love simple cake recipes and aku rasa this is one of the simplest cake recipe ever but yield a very tasty and moist cake. Peh! memang boleh makan sepinggan la. Nasib baik la cake ni comel je, so takde banyak leftovers.

Actually kan, cake ni dah habis pun. Tadi my SIL datang, aku bagi kat dia. Takleh weh simpan cake dalam peti. Nanti ada yang bukak peti malam2 buta makan cake. Pagi semalam, hubby woke up, cerita pasal his nightmare. He could barely sleep. Nak tau nightmare pasal apa? Nightmare makan bubur jagung. Duh! ada ke patut tu dia consider as nightmare. Terjaga dari tido dia, dia masuk dapur, bukak peti, nampak the Jaffa Loaf. Nasib baik dia ambik bau je. Siannya hubby aku.. takpe, esok aku akan goda dia dengan kek yang sedap.. muahahahhaa..

Jaffa Drizzle Loaf (I've made changes to suit my not so sweet tastebud)
Adapted from Good Food

Ingredients

  • 140g butter , softened
  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 11⁄2 tsp baking powder
  • 100g golden caster sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 tbsp milk
  • finely grated zest 1 large orange

TO FINISH

  • 3 tbsp orange juice
  • 50gm sugar
  • 50g dark chocolate

Method
  1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Butter and line the base of a 1.2-litre loaf tin. Put all the cake ingredients into a bowl and beat with a hand whisk or wooden spoon for 3-5 mins, until light and fluffy. Spoon the mix into the tin and level the top.
  2. Bake for 40-50 mins, until golden brown and firm to the touch. Meanwhile, heat the orange juice and sugar gently in a small pan, stirring until dissolved. When the cake is cooked, remove it from the oven and spoon over the orange mix. Leave to cool in the tin, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. Break up the chocolate and melt over a pan of simmering water or in the microwave on Medium for 1-2 mins. Drizzle over the cake and leave to set.

  2. This cake tak buttery and moist mcm sicilian orange cake. Taste wise, depends on individual. Sicilian orange cake is my kind of cake. Cuma this cake, bila makan dgn drizzled dark choc, rasa sedap sgt, especially bila makan panas :D
