I went to Crescent books warehouse sale today with Hubby. After few days of enduring their constant bickering, I had enough! Since they love reading, we decided to brave the afternoon traffic, and went to Bandar Utama. Alhamdulillah, aku made the right decision. It was heaven! Murah giler buku2 kat sana. Hardcover children's books are priced from RM2 onwards. Tadi aku spent quite a lot jugak on books. But at least, I had a peaceful day today. Phew!

Bargains galore for bookworms

By FAZLEENA AZIZ

BOOK lovers have something to look forward to at the Crescent’s Warehouse Sale with discounts of up to 80% on various books.

The sale covers a range of genres including children’s books, recipes, reference materials, religious books, motivational topics, the classics, general fiction and dictionaries.

The sale is being organised by the Crescent News KL Sdn Bhd, which is clearing its stocks.

Good selection: There are plenty of dictionaries available for visitors to choose from.

Crescent News general manager Mohammad Ibrahim Ahmad Jalaludin said the books were being sold from as low as RM1 to as high as RM100.

He said they were offering all kinds of book for students and the public.

“The response has been good and we are happy with the turnout at the sale,” he said.

Teacher R. Jayanthi, who is in her late 30s, found out about the sale through a friend.

She said with the current economic situation, the sale was a good place to for people to buy at a lower price.

Plenty of choice: Jayanthi showing some of the books she grabbed at the sale.

“I happened to find Enid Blyton books, so I thought I would get them for my students and introduce them to the world of books.

“The classics are also very cheap. I find that not many people are into the classics but here they can find out what the classics are really about,” she said.

For home-schooled student Joanna Lee, 11, the sale offered her many books to choose from. She found out about the sale through the newspapers.

“I am looking for easy-reading books. I like the Nancy Drew series, Enid Blyton books, the Babysitter’s Club series as well as the Hardy Boys.

“The prices are very reasonable and all the books are quite new,” she said.

The sale will be held until May 24 at the MBPJ Multipurpose Hall, Jalan BU 3/1, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. It will be open from 10 am to 9pm.
